JOS: On 30th April 2016, the Digital Switchover in Nigeria, known as ‘Free TV’ successfully launched in the city of Jos. We were an integral part of the launch and the running of what will become the largest free to air platform in the world:
- Arranged, along with CCNL (Cable Channels Nigeria Ltd), a major launch event for the Minister of Communications and Information, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, in which he committed to giving away over 200,000 set-top boxes to the residents of Jos and reaffirmed his commitment to switching off analogue in Nigeria by June 2017.
- Our technical team managed the whole end to end technical process
- Our team managed the whole marketing launch
- Our software will be integrated on all of the ‘Free TV’ set-top boxes for Nigeria and will provide the viewer with an EPG and a range of broadcasting applications such as news, public service information and video on demand (VOD).
ABUJA: On 22nd December 2016, ‘Free TV’ launched in Abuja at an event in the capital, attended by the country’s Vice President, Yemi Osinbajo, on behalf of President Muhammadu Buhari. Over 450,000 set-top boxes were provided by the government for the launch and Abuja residents now have access to a broader range of high-quality TV, including 30 channels with digital quality picture and sound.
Our information services application allows free and easy access to news, government and public information and provides a direct communication with the nation.
The integration of our software will also enable viewers to watch the latest Nollywood movies, without the need for internet, through our broadcast push VOD service. The digital switchover is expected to create a N100 billion per annum free TV distribution network for Nollywood.
